The Quality Engineer 2 is responsible for developing the full reliability and inspection plan for all new products. This person evaluates products, manufacturing processes, assembly processes, and supports quality control activities through training, inspection procedure preparation, and technical support.

What will you be doing?

  • Coordinates design review meetings to review all quality aspects of new products. Collaborate with Product Development Engineers to ensure quality considerations during the concept stage.

  • Develops various inspection techniques and procedures to ensure product integrity to design specifications. Responsible for the writing, approval and implementation of Incoming, In-Process and Final Inspection procedures and operator self-inspection procedures.

  • Works with other Quality Engineers and the Metrology Lab personnel on the development of all product gaging.

  • Participates as a trainer in Quality Control and Manufacturing employee training programs.

  • Works with suppliers, management, Engineers and Manufacturing associates in the resolution of quality problems. Also, assists each of these groups with capability studies and the application of statistical quality control.

  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to review processes for new products and coordinate process validations and capability studies. Recommends process monitoring devices where applicable.

  • Assists with complaint investigation and documentation collaborate with Regulatory Affairs to support UL, IEC, and FDA submissions. Participates in internal audits conducted by internal employees and regulatory agencies.

  • Directly supervises up to 2 - 3 technicians. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning and directing work.

  • The Quality Engineer 2 may be assigned special projects by the Q.C. Manager that is commensurate with their level of experience.

What will you need to be successful?

  • Education:

    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering required.

    • ASQ CQE preferred.

  • Experience:

    • 2 - 4 years of experience in quality control or manufacturing preferred.

    • Knowledge of QSR, ISO, UL, and IEC requirements preferred.

    • Must possess good written and verbal skills

  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and the general public.

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts, such as probability and statistical inference, geometry, trigonometry, calculus and algebra. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, reliability, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.

  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

  • Physical Demands: The Quality Engineer 2 will spend approximately one-third of this time walking or standing. The Quality Engineer 2 may spend up to 20% of his time at a computer keyboard. He must also be able to take measurements using hand instruments and electronic laboratory equipment. The Quality Engineer 2 must be able to speak and hear well enough to communicate effectively. Since he must visually inspect products, vision must be excellent or corrected.

  • Work Environment: The Quality Engineer 2 will not typically be exposed to a harsh or dangerous environment. The noise level will be quiet to moderate.

  • Travel Requirements: 0 - 5%
