Job Description

Job Title: Software Engineer I (DevOps)

Precise is seeking a software developer to support a moderately sized FDA program in the Rockville area. The program is a development effort, primarily using technologies suchas Java and Oracle SQL. The ideal candidate will work with the development team performing various tasks such as writing DDL scripts for database updates,creating/updating stored procedures and other custom scripts, documenting deployment procedures, complete deployments in higher environments and support FDA users with data issues.

Successful candidates must be able to complete a Public Trust background check.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with Business Analysts on database design changes needed per requirements.

  • Providing support for development and deployment of software builds and database scripts in Development, Test, Pre-Production and Production environments.

  • Creating scripts for tables, views and other objects like triggers and procedures is our day-to-day.

  • Performing data migrations.

  • Communicating regularly with technical, applications, and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security.

  • Assisting customers with issues related to applications involving issues with PL/SQL code, UNIX shell scripts, cron job code running in development and production environments.

  • Developing Oracle stored procedures, packages, functions, and triggers in support of new applications being deployed.

  • Implementing new releases and completing maintenance requirements.

  • Monitoring performance and managing parameters to provide fast query responses to front-end users.

  • Supporting java development for releases.


The role may also include, as needed:

  • Support for XML data ingestion through web services.

  • Ensuring that storage, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures are functioning correctly.

  • Support for writing software and database documentation, including software design, data dictionary, etc.

  • Ability to support the updating of Security Artifacts and environment Vulnerability Analysis.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 3-5 years of professional experience; or 5 years of professional experience with a related Master's degree.

  • Experience supporting Large Databases.

  • Experience with Oracle 11g or later -- PL/SQL, SQL Queries, procedures, triggers, and DDL.

  • Hands on experience in DB application development.


Desired Skills:

  • Experience in writing and modifying UNIX Shell Scripts.

  • Experience with Jira - Atlassian Jira 6.1 and later versions.

  • Experience with C#.

  • Desired technologies/frameworks:Technologies/Frameworks: Jira Core, Spring MVC, Spring Core, XML, Velocity, Ant, Subversion, Eclipse, Maven Hibernate, JDBC, GWT, JQuery.
