Our latest venture focuses on leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) for enhancing disaster response capabilities with the launch of a new organization.

The Opportunity: DCSO is seeking a visionary and strategic leader to take on the role of Senior Advisor, with the goal of developing the Artificial Intelligence for Disasters (AID) initiative and a new organization supporting it. The ideal candidate will not only lead the initiative's development and launch but will also be primed to serve as the Executive Director of AID upon the establishment of the organization. This individual will be responsible for shaping AID's strategic direction, building partnerships, and positioning the initiative at the forefront of AI-driven disaster response. Candidates will be individuals who have served at a decision maker level, are equipped to serve as the “principal” of a public-facing organization, and have the qualifications to advance a strategic vision at the intersection of technology, public policy, and venture capital.

Your Mission: You will bring AID to life. This is a proposed, venture-focused non-profit organization with a mission to leverage the transformative power of AI-enabled technologies to save lives, livelihoods, and life systems. Competitive candidates will be able to help DCSO advance the vision and launch AID. The new organization will act as a crucial intermediary, connecting game-changing technologies with the emergency response sector and frontline communities to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and protect what matters most — before, during, and after a disaster strikes. The organization is designed to identify and scale innovative AI solutions that can make a tangible difference in real-world disaster scenarios, from wildfires to hurricanes. This includes through summits, public-private partnerships, national competitions, and awards to technologists and impact-focused startup companies.
