What You Will Do:

Gannett Fleming, Inc. is currently seeking a Construction Engineer to join our Transit & Rail Systems Group for Train Control. The position is open for full time work within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Hybrid and remote options may be available.

As a Construction Engineer your primary focus will be on train control room upgrade assignments for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) as part of its project support team. As such, experience with train control systems and electrified transit environments is preferred. Secondary cross-disciplinary experience related to facilities, stations, track, mechanical/electrical/plumbing (MEP), and other such related fields is also highly valued.

Offering extensive experience in rail and bus systems, transit facilities, and civil and structural infrastructure.

At a high level you will focus on the following as a Construction Engineer:

  • Review design/engineering plans and specifications for construction.
  • Provide input to the project team regarding contractor-developed Automatic Train Control (ATC) systems design, construction, testing, operations, maintenance, training, and system repair.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting support and participate in review of technical variances.
  • Provide technical support to crews in the field.
  • Provide field engineering support during trackside equipment inspection and replacement.
  • Review and comment on contractor-developed technical documents and submittals, including as-built plans, drawings, and schematics.
  • Participate in progress meetings and technical meetings throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide technical evaluation and support WMATA cost evaluation of proposed change orders.
  • Follow QA/QC policies and practices and identify possible quality and safety issues within the scope of the project.
Education | Experience:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or ten (10) demonstrated experience in a related field.
  • Five (5) years demonstrated experience directing, managing, and administering rail systems construction projects in electrified transit environments.
  • Direct experience with ATC, AC power, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with PROCORE, eBuilder, or similar cloud-based project controls suites.

Employment Status: Full-Time

Salary Range: $120,000 - $170,000

Salary dependent upon experience and geographic location
