The Project Director will direct and oversee multiple training and technical assistance (T/TA) functions which may include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitating Department communications and guidance to SEAs, grantees, and to the field, including disseminating program guidance, resources, materials, and other key information products from multiple sources.
  • Producing reports, fact sheets, and a variety of other T/TA materials to support effective program implementation.
  • Planning and implementing a communication system that enables routine and ongoing exploration of client and technical assistance recipient needs.
  • Overseeing the development and maintenance of systems, including web-based technologies and social media presence, to support information dissemination and collaboration among grantees and other stakeholders.
  • Overseeing the development of a Federal data center that incorporates multiple data resources and State data pages and that allows visitors to build their own reports of national, State and/or LEA-level data.
  • Collaborating with the Department of Education, other federal agencies, other TA centers, grantees, researchers, associations, and other relevant stakeholders to identify and facilitate learning opportunities for TA recipients.
  • Developing and delivering short, intermediate, and long-term professional development and T/TA that addresses Department of Education priorities and initiatives.
  • Developing and maintaining annual service plans for all aspects of the TA contract.
  • Managing all contract deliverables and tasks and providing quality control to ensure products and services exceed client expectations, such as managing staff, task assignments, and project resources, including subcontractors and subject matter experts (SMEs).
  • Providing effective management and coordination of T/TA services to ensure the provision of high quality, responsive, and coordinated T/TA services and contract deliverables, timely communication, and resolution of quality concerns and issues.
  • Implementing and monitoring a system with ongoing supervision and coaching for all technical assistance specialists that supports ongoing professional development and performance improvement.
  • Engaging with senior firm leadership regarding the implementation and status of projects, including reporting through various internal mechanisms.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (master's or doctorate) or higher preferred.
* At least 3 years of relevant experience as a project director of a Federal contract.
* Must have experience providing strategic direction and directing the successful execution of a multi-year, large-scale technical assistance (TA) contract with the U.S. Department of Education or other Federal agency serving populations of individuals and/or families experiencing homelessness.
* Must have experience leading a project team of at least three full-time staff members and providing ongoing feedback to individuals and the team to drive high performance.
* Must be highly proficient in managing project budgets and timelines to align resources to meet project deliverables and successfully complete projects on time and within budget.
* Must be highly proficient in MS Office suite and willing to learn new technologies.
* Must be knowledgeable about the projects and activities of the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Elementary and Secondary Education (OESE).
* Preferred to be knowledgeable about the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act and the programs and activities housed in the Office of School Support and Accountability (SSA, within OESE).
* Preferred to be knowledgeable about or experience running advisory panels of practitioners and subject matter experts.
* Preferred to have experience in developing proposals, either for Federal, State, or private foundation clients.
