About the Job:

Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting for a Sales Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for sales, implementation, and servicing commercial banking and treasury management services for commercial clients. Prepares and presents proposals for products and services. Implements those services and provides ongoing client service and account maintenance for the client relationship. Responsible for administrative functions related to sales activity, account maintenance and assisting management with functions related to product management, marketing, training and compliance.

MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. SALES (90%)

Primarily responsible for sales of treasury management products and services to meet clearly defined sales and income goals. Will gather information from the client or prospect to prepare a proposal for appropriate products and/or services that are beneficial to the client. Prepares professional sales presentations recommending products and services that are of value to the client/prospect and meets with the client/prospect to review the proposal and close the business. Partners with Relationship Managers and branch personnel in their business development efforts to obtain new business and enhance existing client relationships. Makes joint client calls with Bank partners and outbound business development calls, as required. Refers other cross-sell opportunities to the appropriate department.

2. SALES SUPPORT (5%)

Oversees completion and accuracy of documentation, including required signatures, and implementation of products and services sold. Completes required specification sheets for services and account analyses accurately, and in a timely fashion, allowing sufficient lead time for an orderly implementation. Completes initial internal review and follow-up to ensure services are working as intended and account analysis charges are correct. Trains clients, as necessary, on use of new products and services. Researches and responds to all client inquiries in a timely and efficient manner. Periodically evaluates existing client products and services to make certain they are appropriate and functioning correctly.

3. ADMINISTRATIVE/PROJECT FUNCTIONS (5%)

Prepares all required reports on calls, sales results, and expenses in a timely manner. Reviews account analysis and other system reports as needed and requested. Assists Department Manager with special projects related to sales development, product management, marketing, training and compliance as requested.


Required Skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  1. Work requires a professional level of knowledge equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a banking related field and a minimum of 5 years of related treasury management experience to include sales experience. Demonstrated familiarity with treasury management, commercial banking services and the relevant principles and issues is necessary. CTP/CCM credentials preferred.
  1. Demonstrated ability to profitably sell treasury management services to clients and prospects. Ability to source and develop new business from self-initiated prospects.
  1. Advanced consulting skills and the ability to probe and listen to help clarify inquiries and gather and present data to advance transactions.
  1. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are required.
  1. Advanced problem solving skills are needed to find solutions to problems that are technically complex and require collection, interpretation and analysis of data from diverse sources. Situations require proficient product knowledge and operational knowledge of various systems and departments.
  1. Work is under minimal supervision where the work requires independent judgment in the interpretation of existing policies and procedures and the selection of alternative procedures and work routines.
  1. Advanced computer skills and aptitude are required, including familiarity with utilizing systems for troubleshooting and problem solving.

SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area. Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements.

Work includes little or no potential exposure to hazardous conditions.

Must be able to travel to remote company and/or client locations.
