Description

The Clinical Data Coordinator supports directors, managers, and leaders to ensure data acquisition policies and procedures are followed and to provide accurate, complete and efficient information. Coordinator works independently to acquire, analyze, review, and distribute data and maintain complex reports for internal and external use. Data resources include various electronic systems, health records, and external and internal databases. Responsible for data compilation and entry for databases; develops standard and custom reports from these databases, monitoring, analyzing and participating in recommending improvements. Opportunities for clinical quality improvement and other special projects as assigned. Assists with end-user training and trouble-shooting.

Qualifications Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
2 years Relevant experience; Data management/abstraction, electronic medical records knowledge, clinical chart review for quality improvement or clinical research preferred. (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Must demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy; abilities with Microsoft Office suite; intermediate to advanced expertise with Excel; basic understanding of structured query language (SQL); experience with data retrieval and relational database systems. Data management/abstraction, medical record review for quality improvement or clinical research preferred.

Functional Accountabilities
Data Management and Quality
  • Provide support to ongoing program projects and initiatives and registries.
  • Work with data users and management to determine data needs for quality improvement, outcome, and healthcare studies.
  • Provide accurate and complete data entry functions and maintain data quality for data registries, databases, external surveys, publicly reported data, and quality improvement and research studies.
  • Reconcile data for internal validity and benchmarking for external validity to ensure accuracy.
  • Adhere to quality assurance processes when data mining assigned databases and internal and external data sources.
  • Implement data transfer and data reconciliation; be proactive in reconciliation of databases.
  • Collaborate on development of databases and data management tools as needed.
  • Participate in and contribute to opportunities to develop action plans and implement best practices to ensure the highest quality data for the safest outcomes in the organization.
Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Create effective query reports and merge to pull information from databases and systems as requested; manipulate and format data in an appropriate reporting style.
  • Provide regularly scheduled and ad hoc reports using the information stored in database and other applications; manage initial review of data accuracy.
  • Establish mechanisms to distribute reports or report summaries.
  • Work with other staff to identify new reporting needs.
Communication
  • Prepare tables, graphs, results, written interpretation and descriptions for incorporation into reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Provide data and information analysis feedback to all staff in a constructive, timely manner.
Education and Professional Development
  • Serve as an educational resource and subject matter expert
  • Complete any ongoing required education and training
  • Participate in program teleconferences and other appropriate webinars and share learnings with staff
