SPA's Sea Land Air (SLA) Division supports a diverse portfolio of national security government clients, including the Undersea Enterprise, the Navy Surface Community, the Navy MPTE Enterprise, the Army, DoD Agencies, DARPA, OSD, international clients including the Canadian Navy and Australian Defense Force. Our primary objective is to provide timely, objective and analytic assessments that integrate the policy, operational, technical, programmatic and acquisition aspects of our clients' challenges.

Leveraging both in-domain and cross-domain expertise to maximize our clients' success, SLA Division acts as trusted agents to senior decision-makers and key leaders and excels at providing data driven analytic insights, systems engineering, strategies and plans that address current and emerging challenges to national security.

The Integrated Warfare Systems Group's (IWSG) focus is to provide engineering, technical and programmatic support to the Program Executive Office Integrated Warfare Systems, Above Water Sensors and Lasers (PEO IWS 2.0) Directorate. Efforts include overarching program management, test and evaluation, systems engineering, systems integration, international, cyber security, IT network and programmatic support for over 25 PEO IWS 2.0 advanced radar, phased array radar, electronic warfare, electro-optic, decoy and directed energy programs, as well as liaison activities with the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) Directorate of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) supporting future weapon system development and radar integration relating to BMD capabilities..

IWSG staff support a variety of tasks including: support and completion of major technical reviews; producing required acquisition documentation; meeting critical program milestone deadlines; managing program needs and external requirements, and ensuring the right resources are provided to the right priorities at the right time.

Responsibilities

You will serve as a full-time, highly qualified adviser providing direct strategic planning and systems engineering support to the Aegis BMD future weapon systems group, with a focus on radar development and exploitation for application to BMD capabilities. Efforts will include liaison activities with the Navy's Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems, Above Water Sensors and Lasers Directorate's (PEO IWS 2.0) to assist in maintaining programmatic and technical alignment between the two organizations. You will be empowered to lead and act on behalf of Aegis BMD Leads, ensuring engineering discipline and the appropriate Systems Engineering processes are applied to establish requisite BMD system behavior and requirements. Your writing and communication skills will be applied to ensure the appropriate flow of information between the Aegis BMD and PEO IWS organizations in support of the Liaison function. You will join a high performing Government and contractor team regularly working with stakeholders from industry, the MDA, the PEO, Warfare Centers, Navy Labs and University Affiliated Research Centers on complex issues. You can expect to work on a variety of other BMD development and integration documents and tasks.

Remote work is allowed in this position. You will be expected to be onsite at the Aegis BMD facility in Dahlgren, VA as needed to support meetings and related work. You must have the ability to occasionally travel domestically to various locations not to exceed 5 days per month.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

    At least 15 years of experience including BMD, Aegis Weapon System and/or Radar development experience
  • Must hold and maintain an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master of Science Degree or higher in a technical field
  • RF technical Expertise
  • Familiarity with Ships Combat System design and certification processes
  • Writing and briefing preparation experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior engineers
