A key role in assisting the sales team, the Proposal Specialist prepares sales proposals for Analytical System Integration, Process Automation Measurement & Analytics (PAMA) in Houston, Texas. In this position, you will be the expert in delivering competitive bids, estimates and quotes to customers for analytical systems integration projects in the Process Automation Measurement & Analytics, Systems Integration Unit in Houston, Texas. In this role your attention to detail and ability to negotiate with multiple partners will be vital to this key component of project planning.

This position reports to

Proposals Manager

Your responsibilities

  • Ensuring timely and accurate creation of tender documents through coordination with relevant stakeholders
  • Managing all aspects of the bid, including technical, financial, product management and risk reviews
  • Attend customer pre bid meetings if required (in person if possible)
  • Interface and communicate with customers and channel reps technically and commercially
  • Coordinating with the supply chain to identify suppliers for equipment and materials, through regular studies of customer needs and market trends
  • Contributing to an effective, positive customer relationship throughout the sales process
  • Examining and reporting on the results of tenders and identifying areas for improvement to increase success
  • Ensure all proposal processes and procedures are followed
  • Maintain and update tools and processes as necessary
Your background

  • Bachelor's degree in Analyzer, Chemical or Instrumentation Engineering or a similar field preferred and 2 years of experience in preparing bids and tenders, working as proposal or inside sales with analyzers and systems integration preferred
  • Knowledge of process analyzers and systems integration
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
  • A collaborative, solution focused approach with strong written and spoken communication skills but also able to work independently and under pressure
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
