EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for an Aviation Certification Manager - in our Hughes Network Systems division. Hughes is a leading provider of satellite products and services that recently announced disruptive in-flight entertainment and connectivity solutions for airlines. This role will join our aviation team and play a crucial role in the planning, development and execution of our certification programs.

This position will be located in either our Germantown, MD or Lisle, IL office.

Responsibilities:

  • Certification:
    • Coordinate and manage certification projects to ensure the successful issuance of Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) of in-flight connectivity systems
    • Oversee and manage the process of obtaining and maintaining the necessary FAA certifications for aircraft, equipment, personnel and operations.
    • Coordinate and communicate with internal and external stakeholders, such as engineers, designers, manufacturers, customers, regulators, auditors and inspectors.
    • Review and approve technical documentation as necessary.
    • Maintain strong relationships with our ODA and engineering partners to ensure timely delivery of STC projects.
    • Support LRU, installation conformities and prototype installations for STC programs.
    • Support vendor and customer meetings as needed
  • Process:
    • Help Hughes develop the processes and tools appropriate to a world-class aviation design holder. These processes will touch all phases of the product development lifecycle including design, development/engineering, sourcing & vendor management, quality systems, supply chain, product & customer support as well as the regulatory relationship.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering or combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Prior experience of FAA Parts 21, 25, 145, etc. as relates to IFE and IFEC systems.
  • This position requires occasional travel up to 20%.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • DER (or equivalent) certification
  • A thorough knowledge of the aviation standards and regulations, and the certification processes and procedures.
  • Familiarity with the FAA STC process and its agreements with other international aviation authorities (EASA, DGCA, etc)
  • Experience in guiding STC programs.
  • Ability to influence a variety of stakeholders to establish technical concurrence.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
