Bankruptcy Associate - Washington, DC
Foley & Lardner LLP is seeking an associate with 4 - 9 years of bankruptcy and restructuring experience to join the Bankruptcy & Business Reorganization Practice Group in our Washington, DC office. Am-Law Top-100 Law-Firm experience in bankruptcy and restructuring preferred. Law-clerk experience for a bankruptcy judge in a U.S. Bankruptcy Court or other federal-court clerkship is a plus, but not required. In addition to having strong legal-writing, oral-communication, and litigation skills, qualified candidate will have significant experience representing debtors, secured creditors, indenture trustees, creditor committees, trustees, unsecured creditors, bondholder and noteholder groups, liquidation trustees, plan administrators and disbursing agents, bidders and acquirers, and other stakeholders in corporate reorganization matters, corporate trust and inter-creditor issues, and bankruptcy and default matters. The candidate must also have experience (1) drafting avoidance complaints, mediation statements, various motions and pleadings, objections to plans of reorganization, sale motions, and settlement agreements; (2) preparing and filing fee applications, proofs of claim, and legal memoranda; and (3) presenting motions to the bankruptcy court and attending evidentiary hearings. This position will involve working with the entire 50+ member Foley & Lardner Bankruptcy & Business Reorganization Practice Group, with primary focus in the Washington, DC and Virginia markets. We are seeking a well-rounded, dynamic, highly-motivated Bankruptcy associate who is an effective communicator and has demonstrated an ability to thrive and prosper in complex environments. Top academic and work experience required. To be considered, a candidate must hold a JD from a top-tier, ABA-approved law school and be in good standing and an active member of the Bar of the state in which the candidate is admitted to practice. Virginia Bar admission preferred. Timely admission to the DC Bar will be a condition of employment. Interested applicants should submit a resume and law school transcript.
