Company Overview
Chugach Alaska Corporation was formed in 1972 under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA). Instead of the reservations used extensively in other parts of the United States, ANCSA established a system of corporate ownership of assets to ensure long-term profitability and financial independence for Alaska Natives. Because of this mission, our responsibility goes beyond maintaining a healthy bottom line; it is also our duty to provide ongoing opportunities for our 2,500 shareholders of Aleut, Eskimo and Indian heritage and work to preserve our culture and traditions for future generations.

Mission Statement
Committed to profitability, celebration of our heritage, and ownership of our Lands.

At Chugach, we believe that people are the drivers of our company, from our shareholders to our customers to our employees. We work to build long-term relationships based on trust. We do what we say we will do. Our purpose is bigger than profit-making: we strive to be an inspiration and role model to other indigenous peoples by preserving our culture and protecting the Lands of our shareholders.
